The doodling crow

A child of the 70’s, I grew up drawing in the late 80’s while discovering the work of Vaughn Bodē, Wallace Wood, William Vance, Jim Lee, Otomo, Hermann or Olivier Vatine.
Self-taught, painting with any color medium like acrylic, oil or watercolors and colored pencils, I like doing one shot illustrations, capturing a moment in time.

I spent most of my youth designing T-shirts, posters and book covers for school, created a label “Rebel Art Productions” and was a pencil for hire. And doodling non-stop, 7 days a week.

Then came high school, career, and family – the doodling continued but always as a side show. A global pandemic, home office, a camera and Instagram, and I picked up again in full swing, noticing how much I had missed the process of creation.

More recently I enjoy the work from Olivier Coipel, Sean Gordon Murphy, Kohta Hirano, Makoto Yukimura, Urasawa or Jorge Jimenez. I continually study other artists because the degree of creativity never ceases to amaze me.

My technique is varied, depends on the mood and the moment.

I am currently back to using Ecoline (liquid watercolors) and a crow quill nib with black china ink. When doodling, Copic or Sakura with brush pens, moving between grey’s and sepia. I prefer hot pressed – 250 gr paper as I draw quickly, and I like to keep the flow uninterrupted by the paper structure.
