Not Bernie, but still shades of black
October 30, 2021I love black/white work – because of the challenge. Colors are a fantastic medium and an even better comrade in camouflage when things go wrong. With black / white work – if it’s wrong – it stares right back to your face with one of those flashing red lights. So, when you do work in that palette – you are on constant pressure to not make THAT mistake.
Let’s settle the score right here. There is only one master in this field, and its Bernie Wrightson (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Wrightson) – opening the crisp pages of “A look back” in 1991 blew my mind and still does today. The Frankenstein illustrations are simply, still today, out-of-this-world level.
